LWDF Members visit Behala Bodhayan on January 05, 2012

Living With Dignity Foundation Members made yearly visit to Behala Bodhayan, the organization for mentally retarded children, on Thursday, the January 05, 2012. Prabir Roy accompanied by his spouse Shipra Roy and RP Chakravarty, Member India Chapter of LWDF visited the residential complex and the school for the children. They met Sri Sasanka Ghosh, the President of Behala Bodhayan and took note of the yearly activities. They also interacted with the faculties, staff members and beneficiaries. Behala Boadhayan was donated by LWDF a 12 seater school bus and was financed major portion of the residential complex of the destitute retarded children in Sarsuna, Behala, Kolkata, India.

Visit of LWDF team to Vivekananda Seva Samity, Hijaldaha & Samaita in Bankura, December 2011

Sri Prabir Roy of LWDF accompanied by his spouse Shipra Roy and Sri RP Chakravarty of India Chapter accompanied by his wife Jayasree visited Vivekananda Seva Samity, Hijaldaha, Bankura where LWDF donated for their auditorium and the day-to-day expenses of the orphan children’s hostel. Prabir Roy discussed with the secretary of the organization on the fund utilization and future need.

The team also visited Samaita, a voluntary organization working in Amrakanon, Bankura, where the hostel for destitute girls hostel is funded by LWDF. Prabir Roy interacted with the administration of Samaita and went round the activity centers of the organization.

Kamarhati Project

LDWF donated USD7800 to Barrackpore Avenue Women Cultural and Social Welfare Society, an organization working in the areas of women empowerment, child literacy and destitute elderly care for the past 12 years presently the organization is functioning in North 24 Parganas in West Bengal. It is running 2 orphanages, 2 old age homes, 14 slum schools, 4 vocational training centers, 2 legal counseling cells, charitable dispensaries and awareness camps.

Mr. Sankaracharya Mukhopadhyay, the Secretary of India Chapter of LWDF, handed over the check to Ms Camellia Johnson, the Head of the organization on behalf of Prabir Roy who made his recent visit to the beneficiary.

Kamarhati is one of the largest Industrial slums of West Bengal. With The lock out of the jute mills, life has become crippled. Women and Children are the innocent victims of illiteracy, unemployment for true of dominating husbands and deprivation towards the girl child.

Financial independence of these women can only be a means of redemption keeping this focus in mind the organization runs various income generation vocational training courses in rented Clubs which hampered the regularity of the classes.

The premises measuring about 260 sq ft in Kamarhati ward No 1 has been donated to the organization by living with Dignity Foundation Now York. This place would serve as a permanent venue for conducting the vocational training courses i.e. tailoring, beautician, and embroidery. It will serve as a place for women to make saleable items and be a venue for meeting, awareness generation programmers and a common point for redressal of grievances.

The community center donated by LWDF would serve as a platform for the growth and progress of many deprived women and will help to make a major difference in many Lives.

Udvas Project, Kolkata

Prabir Roy accompanied by Ms. Shipra Roy and RP Chakravarty visited Udvas, the voluntary organization of Kolkata that works for education and uplift of destitute and street children, on 13th February, 2011. They spend sometime with them. Prabir Roy assured them assistance and donated Rs. 5000 to their secretary.

Hijaldaha Orphan Project, Bankura

Vivekananda Seva Samity, Hijaldaha, Bankura runs an self sustained orphanage in the remote ruural area of Bankura in West Bengal where Living With Dignity Foundation donated the cost of an auditorium that was inaugurated by Shipra Roy in 2010. Prabir Roy accompanied by Shipra Roy and the Governing Body Members, Shiaditya Ganguly, Sahadeb Mondal, RP Chakravarty and Bulbul Ganguly and Rina Mondal, visited the project and interacted with the beneficiaries.

Samaita destitute Girls hostel, Bankura

Samaita is a voluntary organization works in Amrakanon, Bankura, a remote village where women empowerment is practiced with practical vision. LWDF donated in 2010 considerable amount for accommodation of destitute girls those are studying in the High School run by Samaita. Prabir Roy accompanied by Shipra Roy and the Governing Body Members of LWDF India Chapter - Shiaditya Ganguly, Sahadeb Mondal, RP Chakravarty and Bulbul Ganguly & Rina Mondal, visited the project and interacted with the beneficiaries on February 11, 2011.

Tribal Annual Fest in Susunia Hill of Bankura

Prabir Roy accompanied by Sankaracharya Mukhopadhyay, Secretary of India Chapter of LWDF visited Susunia Hill of Bankura District in West Bengal, where the annual tribal folk meet (named and known as Kherwal Tokou in the language of local tribes) was organized by Samiyeeta like every year. The area being remotely located, is one of the best opportunities for the poor tribes to meet, greet and dine together to exchange communication and cult for 2 days on 31 December and 1st January,. Members of LWDF and LWD made on the spot visit to have first hand experience of the good effort of Samiyeetaa Woman run project where LWDF is expected to participate in future.

16th December, 2009 - Samayita Math, Bankura

Prabir Roy of LWDF visited Samayita Math, Bankura on December 16, 2009 with his spouse Mrs. Shipra Roy and RP Chakravarty, Sankarcharya Mukhopadhyaya of Living with Dignity (India chapter of LWDF). The team discussed, interacted with the governing body of the Math, run by the female members, for the women emplowerment and education of backward community of villages of Bankura district of West Bengal.

10th January, 2009 - Home for mentally retarded children

A 13 seater school bus was donated to Behala Bodhayan on 10th January, 2009 for transporting the mentally retarded ones. General Shankar Roy Chaudhury, President, Living With Dignity, Kolkata, an affiliated unit of LWDF, launched the bus in presence of Prabir Roy and other dignitaries. A home for residential care of these mentally retarded ones is being constructed with the aid of LWDF. The foundation stone was laid by General Shankar Roy Chaudhury, President, Living With Dignity, Kolkata, an affiliated unit of LWDF in presence of Prabir Roy and other dignitaries. Acheck of USD 15,000 was handed over to Sasanka Sekhar Ghosh, Secretary Behala Bodhayan by Sri Sankaracharya Mukhopadhyay, the Secretary of Living with Dignity.

7th January, 2009 - Orphanages

We have joined hand with Vivekananda Seva Samity, Bankura, at rural Bengal where an orphanage is being aided by LWDF. Prabir Roy of LWDF visited the centre in Bankura District of West Bengal in India on 7th Januray, 2009 A check of USD 7500 was handed over to them for building an auditorium and taking care of the orphans.
